Meet Erica, Creator of Ananta Alignment
Erica Susanto is a Postural Alignment Specialist trained in The Egoscue Method and a certified yoga instructor. Her passion and journey for understanding the importance of functional movement began in 2010 when she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and started experiencing physical limitations and pain. The inflammation in her knees made it difficult for her to participate in any physical activity, and some days it was painful to simply walk. Routine physical therapy and reducing active movement claimed to be natural remedies for her pain relief; however, these ‘solutions’ did not work, and the pain persisted.
In 2014, Erica started practicing asana (the physical practice of yoga) as a way to help her gain strength and mobility. Upon discovering certain yoga flows subsided her pain, Erica sought further studies in anatomy to strengthen her knowledge of human design. In 2018, Erica enrolled in a RYT 200 course and became a certified yoga instructor.
Although yoga subsided her pain, it did not completely relieve it. Following her studies in anatomy, Erica was introduced to functional movement at The Egoscue Method in 2019. Here, she was able to gain control over her pain and limitations through postural alignment therapy. Whether she experienced pain from sitting too long at her desk job, Lyme flare-ups, or injuries, she gained the tools to know what movements she needed to fix the root cause and relieve her pain. She soon discovered that functional alignment and functional movement could also prevent pain.
Erica’s own experiences with pain and limitations turned into a passion for helping others become pain-free. In 2020, Erica left her corporate job, became certified in The Egoscue Method and has been taking on clients for postural alignment therapy both online and offline. She believes that daily functional movement can drastically change the quality of life for those in pain and become the most effective preventative practice for all.
Erica started Ananta Alignment as a way to increase her reach and connect with more individuals globally. She meets with clients virtually 1-on-1 for both postural alignment therapy and yoga private classes. She believes everyone should have the tools to heal themselves, prevent pain, and achieve a more peaceful mind.
